The number one golf course in the Western Cape (Golf Digest Awards, 2008), the Arabella Golf course stretches through rolling fairways, deceptive bunkers and challenging water traps. A truly unique golf course set on the banks of the Bot River Lagoon and fringed by indigenous fynbos.
The championship course layout was designed and built in 1999 by celebrated South African golf course architect, Peter Matkovich, this classic parkland course has spectacular views across the Bot River lagoon (freshwater) and across the Kogelberg mountain range.
The pristine fairways are kikuyu, while the greens, which frequently receive high praise from professionals in the game are dominant bent. The fame of the course has in recent years spread internationally, with the Nelson Mandela Invitational having been held at the Arabella Golf Course over several years. This pro-celebrity tournament hosted by Gary Player hosted the likes of Jack Nicklaus, Samuel L Jackson, Ronan Keating, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Tim Clark, Lee Westwood and Sam Torrance. These and other top names have made a valuable contribution to Gary Player’s initiative to raise funds for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Foundation and the Player Foundation.

The heart of the fynbos kingdom with 1650 plant species, 77 of which occur nowhere else, this is rightly regarded as one of the world’s hotspots of botanical diversity. The nature reserve also offers one of the most spectacular marine drives in the world, winding through the quaint hamlets of Rooiels, Hangklip and Pringle Bay. Situated 40 kilometres from Cape Town, the reserve spans 100 000 hectares, an area approximately the size of the Cape Peninsula. It includes marine as well as terrestrial ecosystems and stretches from below sea level to the mountain tops, the highest peak standing at 1265 metres. Harold Porter Botanical Gardens
A beautiful, secluded garden set between mountain and sea in the heart of the Cape fynbos. Irises, daisies and orchids abound. Glimpse the Disa uniflora and king Protea in their natural habitat; revel in the abundance of waterfalls and amber pools, approximately 88 species of birds, mongoose, porcupines and the shy genets. • Due to the location of the Boma transportation will have to be arranged from the hotel to the boma and back again, the ideal vehicle for this will be an over-lander style vehicle which would add to the authentic feel. • In keeping with the authentic feel the guest will be served traditional home made pineapple or ginger beer as they exit the transport in the drop off zone.
