Our two Presidential Suites each have a private dining room and lounge as well as 24-hour butler service for the more discerning guest.

All suites have private bathrooms with a separate shower and toilet, hairdryers, radio accessed on the colour TV, satelite TV, pay movie channel, 24-hour CNN and CNBC, individually controlled air conditioning, direct dialling phones, direct in and out dialling for personal fax/modem, Internet, razor plug (220/110V) and complimentary tea & coffee making facilities. A stocked mini bar in each room.

For your security, all rooms are equipped with electronic safes. All rooms are equipped with smoke detectors and sprinkler systems.

The Michelangelo provides the corporate executive with all the services and facilities he may require in which to conduct business. The dedicated fax-modem telephones lines in the rooms allow the executive to work in privacy from the comfort of his room and the MW Business Centre offers office and secretarial support. In addition, Wi-Fi hotspots are available in public areas of the hotel.

Accommodation

Premier Suite

All premier suites are located at either end of the North facing corridors, on floors 1 to 6. These suites have doors between the bedroom and lounge areas.

 

 

 

 

Superior Room

All superior rooms are situated on the 4th, 5th, and 6th floors of the hotel. The bedroom and lounge area are on one level. These rooms can be used to accommodate an extra bed or baby's cot if necessary. Guests have a choice of twin beds or a king size bed.

 

 

 

 

Deluxe Room

All deluxe rooms are situated on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors of the hotel. The bedroom and lounge are on a split level. The ceilings of the bedroom and lounge are domed. Deluxe rooms have either twin beds or a king size bed.

 

 

 

 

Presidential Suite

The two presidential suites overlook the Nelson Mandela Square. The suites both have king sized beds and inter-leading doors to a deluxe twin room. Both include a fully functional kitchenette serviced by a butler between 07h00 - 23h00. The suites are equipped with a CD player and fax machine.

 

 

 

 

Executive Suite

All Executive Suites have an open plan design and guests can choose between a king size bed or twin beds.

The Michelangelo can accommodate functions for up to 160 people in various seating configurations.

Function proposals
The Michelangelo staff can help you organize any function you desire. Below are some suggested proposals. Please note that these are merely meant as a guideline and can be adjusted to your requirements.

Breakfact, Lunch and Dinner Proposal
The following can be booked for either a breakfast (7h00 - 11h00), lunch (12h00 - 16h00) or dinner (19h00 - 23h30) function. Please see the available menus for lunch and dinner functions.

Venues:
• L' Incontro Ballroom - R3 500 - maximum of 160 guests.
• Il Paviglione - R2 000 - maximum of 50 guests
Please note that all venues are non-smoking.

The ideal number of guests around one table is ten. However should it be necessary, twelve guests may be accommodated at one table (please note that the guests will be seated closely together).

Linen - The Michelangelo Hotel provides Lilly of Valley Damask tablecloths and serviettes. You may however bring in your own overlays or tablecloths. This will be at your own cost and items are required a day prior to your function.

Cutlery - All cutlery used in the hotel is silver-plated from the Contour Range

Table mirrors - As part of the standard set-up, a round 60cm diameter mirror can be placed in the centre of each table.

Name cards - These can be printed at a cost of R7.50 per card and will be on the standard Michelangelo Hotel stationery or can be printed on the stationery of your choice. Please provide your stationery and names at least two days prior to your function.

Table plan - The Michelangelo Hotel can assist you with your table plan. Your table plan will be printed on The Michelangelo Hotel stationery or can be printed on the stationery of your choice. Please provide your stationery two days prior to your function.

Equipment - A screen, lectern and standing microphone is included in the venue hire.
Additional equipment that is available for hire:
• Data Projector @ R900
• Public Address System @ R750, including 1 microphone
• Lapel or Roving Microphones @ R300.00 each
• Extension Cord @ R150.00 deposit, each
• Double Adapter @ R25.00 deposit, each
• Laptop @ R1000.00 per day

Flowers - Our florist will assist with your floral requirements, should you prefer not to use an independent florist. Table arrangements range from R280.00 upwards and colours and ideas can be discussed with the florist directly.

Parking - Should you wish to pre-pay for your guests' parking, vouchers can be ordered through the hotel at a cost of R22.00 per voucher and the Banqueting Manager will hand them to a designated person at your function to distribute.

Staffing - 1 waiter for every 10 guests. Additioanl waiters can be arranged at a charge of R55.00 per hour per waiter (minimum of 4 hours per waiter).

Waiter service - Gratiutiy is not included. Recommended gratiuity of 10 %

Chair covers - The chair covers are ivory in colour and can be ordered at an additional cost of R22.00 per cover. Should you wish to bring in your own chair covers, please provide these one day prior to your function.

Menus - a variety of menu options are available. Hot items for a breakfast function must be confirmed 24 hours in advance. Please discuss these when booking your conference. Kosher meals can be arranged 72 hours prior to the function with the coordinator. Kindly note that kosher guests may not exceed 10% of the final numbers for your function. We do cater for Halaal guests with Halaal friendly chicken and fish.

Menu cards - should a set menu be choosen (lunch or dinner functions) The Michelangelo Hotel will print one menu for every two guests complimentary on each table. Please note that menus are done on the standard Michelangelo menu stationery or can be printed on the stationery of your choice. Please provide your stationery two days prior to your function.

After hours fee - Should you require the venue later than 00h00, a late staffing fee of R2 000.00 for the L'Incontro and R1 000.00 for the Il Paviglione per hour thereafter will be charged. This charges will apply even if the function runs late.

Bar - evening function - Our suggestion on a full local bar is R200.00 per person and R130.00 per person for wines, local malts and soft drinks.

Dance floor - A dance floor of 5m x 4m is provided complimentary and is available for evening functions. A larger dance floor can be arranged at an additional cost.

Bar - Please find the wine list attached. Our suggestion on a full local bar is R200.00 per person and R130.00 per person for wines, local malts and soft drinks.

Weddings

Your wedding day should be one of the most special in your life, so why not partner with the staff at The Michelangelo to make your day a perfectly decadent five star event? The staff have put together some ideas to guide you in your preparations for your wedding at the hotel. Speak to the banqueting staff to discuss your requirements to ensure that it's the perfect day you have always dreamt about.

Proposal
Time - The venue will be available for set-up from 12h30 on the day of your wedding. All items may be delivered the day prior to the wedding reception to the banqueting co-ordinator with detailed instructions and we will ensure that the instructions will be followed accordingly.


Venue
• Il' Incontro Ballroom - Maximum guests suitable for this venue is 160 without a dance floor and 140 guests including a dance floor.
• Il Paviglione - Maximum guests suitable for this venue is 50 without a dance floor and 40 guests including a dance floor.

Seating - The ideal number of guests around one table is ten. However should it be necessary, twelve guests may be accommodated at one table (please note that the guests will be seated closely together).

Catering - The Michelangelo has put together a selection of menus to choose from If you would like something special please speak to our banqueting staff who will, in consultation with the chef, try to accommodate your wishes. Kosher meals can be arranged from an external supplier and will be subject to a surcharge over and above the menu price. The number of kosher guests may not exceed 10% of the final numbers for your function. We do cater for Halaal guests with Halaal friendly food on request.

Conference

Full day conference package (08h00 - 17h00)
The full day conference package at The Michelangelo includes:
