 Welcome to the HOUW HOEK INN, located on the site of a toll gate established in the Dutch East Indian days. The oldest hotel in South Africa, it is situated in the heart of the Kogelberg ( Biosphere) reserve, 90km from Cape Town and 75km from the Cape Town International Airport, you will rapidly forget congested freeways and pollution in this beautiful and peaceful environment.

Most of the existing ground floor building dates from 1779.The upper storey was added in 1860 and since then the Inn has been progressively extended. The adjoining old farm buildings have been converted into wedding and conference venues retaining their original character.

Today, gracious old oaks, flanked by towering poplars and one of the biggest blue gum trees in South Africa, spread their sheltering branches over the historic Inn.

Our A La Carte (Monday to Sunday) restaurant seats 70 persons, with set menus, also for Saturdays and Sundays.

We also have country home cooking with traditional Sunday lunches. And on Saturday nights, we have dinner dances.

Main Dining Room

Our main restaurant seats 100 guests, serves a la carte lunches and dinners (except Saturday dinner ) and a full English breakfast daily. It also serves a very popular country home cooking Sunday lunch carvery buffet.

The traditional Saturday Dinner/Dance is held in the Barn in which a 5 course set menu is served. Dinner is served from 20h00 and the music starts at 21h30.

This venue can also used for weddings on any other nights or lunch.

A la carte Lunches & dinners, light lunches, hot & cold beverages are served daily on the veranda, in the garden and in the Stagecoach Bar.

ACCOMMODATION

The HOUW HOEK INN has 50 beautifully appointed rooms. Of these rooms, 10 are family rooms and 40 are double rooms sleeping a total of 120 guests per night.

All rooms offer en-suite bathrooms, TV (with 10 channels DSTV) , telephone and most have a fire place & a balcony.

WEDDINGS & FUNCTIONS

The HOUW HOEK INN is an ideal venue for weddings and private functions. With over 90 weddings and functions being held at the Inn every year, we can assure you that you will not regret it! We will take great care to every detail to make your special day a memorable one! The Barn ( max 220 guests) and the Ou Kaapse Hoek ( max 160 guests) are the two venues mainly used for weddings & functions, also a garden wedding can be organised weather permitting.

The ceremony can also take place in the garden or the Seminar room. We will supply the chairs and the pulpit.

Our magnificent garden with the Houw Hoek mountain in the background will make your wedding photographs the most beautiful.

The HOUWHOEK INN has 4 air conditioned conference rooms which can accommodate 20 to 80 delegates comfortably in a U-shape and up to 120 in school room style. The hotel consists of 50 well appointed rooms with a total of 107 beds.

The HOUW HOEK INN is the perfect venue for a teambuilding conference with its well kept 4 hectare of lawn where any activities can take place.

Delegates can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area by walks in the surrounding mountains. For the more energetic, we offer squash, tennis, snooker, volley ball, putt-putt, trampoline and 2 swimming pools.
