Blue Marlin Hotel is situated in Scottburgh, about 50 kilometers due south of Durban, on the east coast of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa.

The international airport in Durban is approx. 30 minute drive by air-conditioned bus.

Nestled in sub-tropical gardens, with a sparkling pool, and ocean views to take your breath away, the Blue Marlin is one of those excellent, family oriented, hotels where guests intermingle and return year after year. Adjacent to the main pool is a "splash" pool for the very young, and our childrens play area with a trampoline, swings and jungle gym.

The hotel boasts 120 en-suite rooms with telephone, TV with MNET (South Africa's equivalent of cable TV) and a ceiling fan.

We provide baby sitting for young children, and in peak season a children's entertainer is on hand to ensure your kids are kept occupied, and you have the rest you deserve.

 The mild climate has a summer rainfall and the temperatures generally fluctuate between 8-20°C in winter and 15-35°C in summer. The area is also malaria free, provides first world medical care with private hospitals a short distance away, and no cholera/typhoid immunisations are required.

The Beach

We are located almost right on the beach.

Our beach is one of the best on the coast, offering safe swimming in the warm Indian Ocean. The water temperature is seldom under 20 °C. Professional lifeguards are constantly on duty, and there are shark nets installed offshore. Surfing is also a big attraction with waves reaching between 4 and 5 feet high.

A daily walk on the beach is the order of the day for many of our guests with the Greenpoint lighthouse, not too far away, making for a decent target and and interesting resting place before heading back.

offshore the hotel, offers divers incredible diving in tropical

and soft corals, warm and cold water reef fish, sharks, turtles, whales, rays, moray eels, sponges and most especially as the dive site where divers can safely swim with the spotted ragged tooth shark between June and November.

Our conference facility can be set up cinema style, U-shape or classroom style for the seating of the delegates. An OHP/ Screen, TV/Video, whiteboard and flipchart are available. A Data Projector is available for hire at R500 per day. Please advise us of your of seating preference and equipment required.

In order to confirm a reservation, a non-refundable deposit in the amount of 50% is
required within 2 days of the booking and the balance is to be paid 7 days prior to
arrival.
The rate quoted above is applicable until 30 November 2008.

Please note that shorts cannot be worn for dinner in our dining room as the dress code is SMART CASUAL. All rooms now have safes for which you can bring your own padlock.

 


Directions

From Durban International Airport, take the N2 south. Take the Scottburgh offramp. At the stop street,turn left and follow the road to the T-junction. Turn right into Old Main Road and follow the road over the bridge. Turn left into George Crookes Street. The resort is at the top of the hill.
